Bank account for a non-resident LLC
The registered agent’s address is for legal papers. The registered agent address is not a business mailing address and cannot stand in for one, for example for bank verification. Plan a different address for the bank.
- Expect to be asked for a business address that is not the agent’s, and for proof of who owns the company.
- Banks set their own rules for non-residents. Some require a visit, some work remotely, and policies change. Ask the bank before you form.
- Have the paperwork ready: the formation document, the EIN letter, and your passport or national ID.
- No mail forwarding here. Mainstay Filing offers neither mail forwarding nor a virtual office, so choose that separately if you need one.
Because the EIN can take longer without an SSN (why), start the EIN early.
